Fruit Powder Highlights
North of 49 procures many grades of fruit from growers and processors from our BC production all the way to California. As we all know fruit bushes do not produce perfect fruit all the time, add weather in and farmers end up with many different grades of fruit. Blueberry that has ripened too fast, heat domes that have crushed the raspberry production, or apple that may have been hit by hail. This adds up over the season and farmers are left with varying grades of fruit. North of 49 procures process grade fruit all the way up to Grade A berries and puts them through our dehydration and milling lines.
Our Canadian Blueberry Powder product is especially varied with our growing region, producing so many varieties of highbush Blueberry. A grade A blueberry has great high brix qualities which makes it perfect for confectionary or snack inclusions.
Key qualities of our organic blueberry powder are the anthocyanin levels to sufficient amounts of fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese and potassium in every 2 TBSP of dried blueberry powder is equivalent to one whole cup of raw Blueberries.
Antioxidants protect your body from free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can damage your cells and contribute to aging and diseases, such as cancer. Blueberries are believed to have one of the highest antioxidant levels of all common fruits and vegetables.
While raspberry production has been reduced greatly in the past number of years with heat waves and unpredicted summer weather. We have still been able to obtain enough fruit to steadily supply our ongoing customers with dried raspberry powder. These customers range from Pet food manufacturers to supplement producers.
Raspberry provides potassium, which is essential for heart function and is proven to lower blood pressure. The omega-3 fatty acids in raspberries can help prevent stroke and heart disease. They also contain a mineral called manganese, which is necessary for healthy bones and skin and helps regulate blood sugar.
Our vacuum dried raspberry powder ranges again in brix depending on the quality of the fruit. We can offer low brix fruit which is great for encapsulation and avoids sugar and clumping, or high sweetness fruit which has proven to be great for snacks and confectionary manufacturers.
Our Organic Apple Powder comes from our Okanagan Valley Apples. The apples are gently dried and milled to make a beautiful, gently sweet and silky apple powder used in a number of applications. It’s a great filler or main ingredient in blends for its sweetness, as well as its great low price. We can offer such great pricing as the apples are all processed next to our plant in the Valley, dried and milled to Apple Powder by us and offered directly from our plant warehouse.
Organic Strawberry Powder has grown in its demand as applications for its use have also grown. It has become a steady use in supplement applications for its flavour profile, as well as nutritional value.
Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C and manganese and contain decent amounts of folate (vitamin B9) and potassium. They naturally deliver vitamins, fiber, and particularly high levels of antioxidants known as polyphenols without any sodium, fat, or cholesterol. They are among the top 20 fruits in antioxidant capacity.
Finally, Organic Blackberry Powder is a uniquely used product with great colour and flavour. A deep purple Blackberry Powder serves as a great inclusion in many blends and recipes.
